[PREGUNTA TONTA] Instalar KDe 4.2 en kubuntu 8.10

Hola amigos.. tal como lo dice el post.. tengo instalado en una pc PENTIUM iii el kubuntu 8.10, pero me interesaria mucho unicamente cambiar el KDE (actualizar la version) pues no puedo instalar la nueva version de KUBUNTU me da cierto error no se porque...

alguien sabe como podria hacer eso?

Para instalarlo:
    * Edita el sources.list

sudo vim /etc/apt/sources.list
    * Agrega la siguientes líneas (una sola línea):

    * Después de asegurarte de que tienes tu conexión a internet tecleas:

sudo aptitude update
sudo aptitude install kde4-core
Nota: Desistala las versiones anteriores de KDE 4.0 que tengas instaladas

    * Vuelve a iniciar una sesión escogiendo KDE y a disfrutar

Packages for Kubuntu 8.10 can be installed by following the instructions below. If you installed KDE 4.2 Beta or RC you can merely update your existing installation.

Note: These packages are not supported by Canonical; for a stable system it is not recommended to upgrade. KDE 4.2 will be officially supported as part of Kubuntu 9.04 being released April 23rd 2009.
Instructions

The updated packages for Kubuntu 8.10 are in Unsupported Updates (backports). To update to KDE 4.2, please follow these instructions:

   1. Remove the koffice-data-kde4 package if you have it installed. The current koffice2 packages in the kubuntu-members-kde4 PPA are incompatible with the KDE 4.2 packages since they try to install icons to the same locations.
   2. Follow the Kubuntu Repository Guide to enable Recommended Updates and Unsupported Updates.
   3. Old Plasma packages are not compatible with KDE 4.2, you should uninstall any plasmoids.
   4. You can now update any existing KDE 4 installation to 4.2 with Full Upgrade in the package manager, or using the Adept Updater tool in your system tray.
   5. Now log out. When you log in you will have KDE 4.2. Enjoy.

Notes

KDE 4.2 uses Akonadi which will install MySQL. The MySQL packages in intrepid will ask for a password, you can set this to anything you like.

Digikam will not install alongside these packages due to conflicting library versions.

Eso lo podes ignorar.

Abri el programa "Adept" y dale Actualizar -> Actualización completa, el te va a instalar KDE 4.2

Now log out. When you log in you will have KDE 4.2. Enjoy.

Cerra sesión y volve a entrar y deberías de tener tu flamante KDE 4.2
