DockPort (originally codenamed Lightning Bolt[1]) is a computer interface developed by AMD and Texas Instruments combining data, display, and power over a single cable. It is due in early 2013 as a low-cost alternative to Thunderbolt for devices such as laptop docks.

The DockPort controller, the HD3SS2521, is designed by Texas Instruments that routes DisplayPort and USB 3.0 signals along with power over a standard DisplayPort cable.[2] The docking, for instance, can provide MST hub implementation for multiple displays (through DisplayPort, HDMI, DVI, or D-Sub), a SuperSpeed USB hub, along side audio and full bandwidth Gigabit Ethernet.

The DockPort has been adopted as an official DisplayPort standard extension by VESA at CES 2014, with specifications to be finalized in Q2 2014
