On February 13, 2012, it was reported through TMZ that L.A. County Coroner officials informed family members that Houston did not drown but her death was as result of what appears to be a combination of Xanax and other prescription drugs mixed with alcohol. There was not enough water in her lungs for her to have drowned. Houston was likely to have already died before her head became submerged under water. TMZ also confirmed that it was Houston's aunt, Mary Jones, who was the first to discover Houston's body and was the one to first administer CPR.
