Sigo esperando el tal Steam OS... asaber a que horas le van a dar por subirlo

Los requerimientos oficiales son:

Procesador de 64 bits
4GB de RAM o más
Disco duro de 500GB
Tarjeta gráfica nVidia (AMD e Intel próximamente)
Soporte para arranque UEFI

Sinceramente opino que si quieren desbancar a Windows, tienen que optimizar más esa babosada y dejar de andar con cosas de que sólo procesadores de 64 bits y tanta ram asaber para que... si bien podés correr varios juegos con 2 de ram bajo Win7/8 no digamos con linux que es menos pesado.

Ay si ay si que critico a Windows 8 por el tal UEFI/Secure Boot y van estos y piden la misma merde...

No creo que secure boot sea un requerimiento obligatorio, sin embargo UEFI si esta mas bonito cuando esta bien implementado en una motherboard. (al fin hora de upgrade! )

dota si esta para linux, pero no tiene soporte para control y ni creo q tenga hasta q salga el steam pad

Probé en VirtualBox y se queda en pantalla negra, talvez pruebo VMWare más tarde que me suban el inter a 2mb.

En máquina real ni loco, para que me borre todo lo del disco duro, no gracias.

Mira enema y tan siquiera te molestas en leer los faqs antes de venir a decir lo primero que se te viene a la mente


Ahorita solo tiene soporte con tarjetas nvidia,  soporte para amd y gráficos Intel no está disponible todavía.

Si tenes una tarjeta amd no va a funcionar

Furthermore, In order to bypass UEFI, you need to install GRUB on the stick. As an example doing this on a fresh formatted drive:

sudo grub-install --force --no-floppy --boot-directory=/media/[mounted-usb-stick-folder] /dev/[device-number]

Then copy the contents of the steam OS archive into the USB drive (Except to boot directgory leave that out). Then you need to copy the /boot/grub/grub.conf from the archive to the USB grub folder and ensure that its values are correct.

This should allow you to get a bootable USB drive with no UEFI required (Remember to turn of EFI in the machine settings before you try).

A few other things to keep in mind, You may run into issues during the install with installing grub-pc. in order to do this, I ran the shell (an option in the install menu) and I turned the interfaces on, and added the debian wheezy main repo to my sources, updated apt, then installed grub-pc. From then on GRUB installed fine.

After setting everything up, I found I was running into blank screens before the login. Installing the virtual box guest additions fixed that

Bajé el mentado ZIP y seguí este tuto:

How to Make a Bootable DVD on a Windows system for 97% of the clueless people, Valve included

0. Get a freakin' UEFI computer and trash this PC from the 80's
1. Get a blank DVD media, duh!
2. Get a copy of Microsoft's oscdimg.exe tool. It is part of the Windows Automated Installation Kit (or Windows AIK for short). It is a ~1Gb file, but Google around and you shall find the single 120Kb file you need
3. Think twice about what the heck you are doing
4. Download ANY of the SteamOS zip files
5. Extract the file to a folder, let's say C:\Users\Public\SteamOS\
6. Open a Command Prompt
7. Go to the folder you saved the oscdimg.exe at step 1 (probably your downloads folder) on that command prompt (tip: "cd \users\joeuser\downloads")
8. Type in the following command - should be EXACTLY AS IS, but I may allow you to change the path to the one you extracted on step #5:

oscdimg.exe -m -o -j2 -h -pEF -bC:\Users\Public\SteamOS\boot\grub\efi.img -lSteamOS C:\Users\Public\SteamOS\ SteamOS.iso
9. Use your favorite ISO burner to record the just created SteamOS.iso file to a DVD
10. From this point on, get ready to lose your data if you are too lazy to not understand Valve's instructions
11. Boot with the DVD and again follow ALL the instructions as if you were using an USB drive
12. Send me a beer
13. Enjoy your SteamOS

Pero sólo había logrado una bonita pantalla negra... ahora volví a probar cambiando algunos ajustes pero ahora falla en otro punto... xD
