Plenty of Samsung Galaxy note 8.0 rumors have been making the rounds ahead of Mobile World Congress, The device has been more or less confirmed to debut at the show, but up until now all has been talk. This first look puts a face to the rumors, and it’s not a bad looking face.

The Note 8.0 looks to take Samsung’s nature-inspired design found in the Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 and blow it up a few inches. The rounded shape certainly won’t be confused with an iPad mini, — the back of the slate looks more like a stretched out version of the Note.

This image appears to come from some sort of catalog listing, which is a bit curious considering the tablet isn’t supposed to be unveiled for almost a month. Along with the image comes a list of specs reiterating what we have heard before: 8-inch 1280×800 display, 16GB internal storage, 5MP camera, quad-core 1.6GHz processing, and 2GB RAM.

The Note 8.0 could be one of the last devices we see using Samsung’s current-gen design language. The launch of the Galaxy S4 will likely define a new look for Samsung’s remaining 2013 models.

Behold the note 8.0

We've learned much about the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 over the past week or so, from specs to a purported release date. Now we have what might be our first proper glimpse of the tablet itself out in the wild -- and it's packing a few surprises. In spy shots obtained by Italian outlet DDAY.it, we see an unknown Samsung tablet sporting a curved chassis similar to the Galaxy S3 and Note 2 -- a far cry from earlier Samsung tablet designs. The size of the tablet, and the "S Pen" holder shown in the bottom right in the pic above, would seem to confirm this as the Galaxy Note 8.0.

More surprising still is Samsung's apparent decision to eschew on-screen buttons in favor of a traditional menu, home and back setup. It's a break from usual Android tablet designs, though it could be argued that changes to Android's action bar in version 4.2 mean that on-screen controls are less important than they were back in the Honeycomb days.

We should also consider the possibility that this might not be the final Note 8.0 design. In the past, Samsung has craftily put out several pre-release versions of devices (like the Galaxy S3) in the hope of keeping the final design secret. Regardless, it's in Samsung's best interest, branding-wise, to make the Note 8.0 visually close to its smartphone line-up, and this kind of design certainly achieves that.

Previous rumors have the Galaxy Note 8.0 debuting at Mobile World Congress in late February ahead of a March launch. Reported specs include an 8-inch 1280x800 display, a 1.6GHz Exynos 4 Quad CPU, 2GB of RAM and TouchWiz'd Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. Ante la gran cantidad de rumores que recientemente han surgido, Samsung confirmó hace unos días la existencia de una tablet Galaxy de ocho pulgadas. Dicha tablet se presentaría supuestamente en el Mobile World Congress de Barcelona (dentro de un mes aproximadamente), por lo que los rumores y filtraciones sobre ella no paran de sucederse.

Las últimas filtraciones de la tablet son imagenes de la misma, las cuales desvelan el diseño final de esta. Como podéis apreciar en las imagenes, cuenta con un diseño muy similar al de la Nexus 10, aunque conservando los materiales del Samsung Galaxy S3 y Galaxy Note 2, lo cual, si bien contribuye a un menor peso, no acaba de convencerme.



Un detalle curioso es que esta Note 8 8 apuesta por la inclusión de botones físicos, lo que me parece un gran error por parte de Samsung teniendo en cuenta que Android soporta botones on-screen desde la versión 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Además, la inclusión de un botón menú también creo que es un completo error cuando Google busca acabar con este mediante el uso de action bars.

Como ya dijimos en su momento, las especificaciones que se esperan ver en esta Galaxy Note 8 son muy similares a las del Galaxy Note 2. Sería un procesador Quad-core a 1.6 GHz, 2 GB de memoria RAM, NFC, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Android 4.2, cámara de 5 megapixels y pantalla de ocho pulgadas con resolución HD.



Por supuesto, también incorporará toda la personalización de Samsung así como un stylus que aprovechará al máximo dicho software. No debemos olvidar que se trata de un dispositivo de la gama Note, la cual se diferencia principalmente por la inclusión de dicho stylus y múltiples aplicaciones que hacen uso de este complemento.

Ahora solo queda esperar al MWC para que Samsung nos dé todo tipo de detalles sobre esta estupenda tablet.
